Martus Solutions has reached 1,000 customers using Sage accounting products, according to the company. The Atlanta-based vendor sells budgeting and reporting software to mission-focused organizations, including nonprofits, associations, schools, and faith-based groups. Its Sage-connected customers run Sage Intacct, Sage 50, Sage 100, and Sage 300.
Martus says the milestone reflects demand from mid-market finance teams whose budgeting, forecasting, and reporting have outgrown spreadsheets but who want to keep their existing accounting system in place.
Connecting Planning to Sage Accounting Data
Martus draws accounting data from Sage into a separate planning workspace, where finance staff and department budget owners build budgets, forecasts, personnel plans, and reports. Sage remains the accounting system of record. People who contribute to budgets in Martus do not need a login to the accounting system, and user-level permissions control which data each person sees.
Most of the base runs Sage Intacct. Martus’s Intacct integration page cites more than 900 Intacct customers and describes real-time data with drill-down to transaction detail. The company says Intacct customers point to integration depth as a deciding factor when comparing products, including the ability to sync budget and actuals data and use the dimensional structures they have already set up in Intacct. Sage also sells its own planning product, Sage Intacct Planning, which Martus positions itself against on its website.
Integration detail differs on other Sage products. Martus connects to Sage 100 through its EZ Connector, which syncs accounts, dimensions, and transactions nightly and, the company says, takes under an hour to set up. Its Sage 300 page describes centralized budget entry and actual-to-plan reporting on Sage 300 data but does not specify the sync method.
Recent Growth Through Partners and the Sage Ecosystem
Martus reports that more than 200 of its Sage-connected customers have used the platform for five years or longer, while more than 600 Sage customers chose it in the past three years. Those figures put most of the growth in the period since 2023.
The 1,000th shared customer came through JMT Consulting, an advisory firm that helps nonprofits select and implement financial technology. Jacqueline Tiso, JMT’s founder and CEO, said nonprofits want technology that helps their teams “make those dollars count.”
Martus is a Sage independent software vendor (ISV) and is listed on the Sage Marketplace. It also integrates with NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Acumatica, QuickBooks, Xero, and others, and serves more than 1,400 organizations in total.
What This Means for ERP Insiders
Clean up dimensions before connecting planning. Martus builds budgets on the dimensional structures already set up in Sage Intacct, so planning inherits any inconsistencies in them. ERP teams can tidy departments, locations, and program codes first, giving budget owners reports that match how the organization actually runs.
Define budget-owner permissions up front. Martus lets people without accounting system access contribute to budgets, with user-level permissions. ERP teams can decide who sees and edits each budget area before rollout, keeping department input broad while sensitive figures such as salary data in personnel plans stay restricted.
Confirm sync timing for your Sage product. Martus describes real-time data for Intacct and nightly syncing for Sage 100, and gives less detail for Sage 300. ERP teams can check sync frequency and data scope for their own product before setting reporting cycles, so budget reviews run on data that is as current as they need.
