Epicor has expanded its AI-driven ERP strategy into Latin America with the general availability of Epicor Prism, its portfolio of vertical AI agents built for the supply chain industries. Announced on August 21, the launch embeds Prism directly into Epicor Kinetic and Prophet 21, giving manufacturers and distributors in the region conversational access to live ERP data and related documents without requiring specialized analytics skills or separate AI tools.
The regional expansion follows the pattern Epicor set in June, when Prism became generally available in the UK and select European markets. As ERP Today noted at that launch, the real test for embedded AI is not whether users enjoy asking ERP questions in natural language, but whether it helps manufacturers resolve exceptions faster, protect margins, and reduce dependence on scarce ERP experts. Latin America now becomes the next proving ground for that thesis.
Why the Region, Why Now
Epicor’s framing is deliberate. Manufacturers and distributors in Latin America face mounting pressure to improve productivity while navigating volatile supply chains, and the company argues the opportunity is not to add more technology but to convert operational data into faster decisions. “By bringing industry-specific AI directly into ERP workflows, Epicor Prism can help teams identify issues earlier, reduce manual work and act on information with greater confidence,” said Arturo Buzzalino, Chief Product Officer and Chief Innovation Officer at Epicor.
The capabilities mirror the European release. The Prism Reasoning Agent analyzes live ERP data alongside documents, spreadsheets, and PDFs to explain why a production line is behind schedule or what is driving a spike in overdue orders. Prism Developer for Application Studio cuts the time required to build and test ERP customizations by approximately 60%, and more than 18 pre-built agents address workflows from MRP output analysis to accounts payable document validation. Unlike generic assistants, Prism draws on a vertical data ontology built from five decades in manufacturing, distribution, building supply, retail, and automotive.
A Year of Converging Signals
The Latin America launch is best read as one move in a coordinated 2026 sequence. In January, Epicor set final on-premises feature release dates for Kinetic, Prophet 21, and BisTrack, signaling that future innovation, including Cognitive ERP capabilities, will live exclusively in the cloud. In July, the company expanded its Conexiom partnership to push AI-powered order and invoice automation deeper into distributor workflows on Eclipse and Prophet 21. And in August, Epicor named Vaibhav Vohra as CEO effective October 1, elevating the chief architect of the Cognitive ERP vision to the top job.
Taken together, these moves show a vendor consolidating its entire strategy around a single idea: ERP shifting from a system of record to a system of outcomes. The cloud transition supplies the delivery model, the partnerships supply transactional automation at the edges, the leadership change supplies continuity, and Prism supplies the intelligence layer. For the make, move, and sell industries Epicor serves, the practical effect is that AI is arriving inside the workflows where inventory, production, fulfillment, and margin decisions already happen, not as a separate tool that operational teams must learn.
What This Means for ERP Insiders
Regional AI rollouts are becoming competitive table stakes. With Prism now live in North America, Europe, and Latin America, Epicor is racing to make embedded, industry-specific AI a standard expectation for mid-market manufacturers and distributors globally. Vendors that cannot localize AI delivery across regions will find it harder to defend operational accounts.
Governance is the adoption gate. Prism works within existing role-based security, and actions remain subject to human oversight. Latin American adopters should verify that access rules, data boundaries, and audit accountability hold up before extending agent authority into live operations.
The cloud deadline and the AI payoff are now linked. Epicor’s final on-premises releases arrive in 2028, and Prism’s capabilities are cloud-delivered. Customers weighing migration timelines should treat embedded AI as part of the business case rather than a separate evaluation.
