IBM and AWS are advancing their Agentic AI initiatives. According to an IBM article, these initiatives are enabling them to design, deploy and manage AI agents to help enterprises with enhanced speed, scalability and governance.
Their partnership of the AI stack is designed to deliver hybrid cloud, AI, data and automation solutions that fit seamlessly into existing environments, helping clients maximize their investments and enhance productivity. These include:
Integration of IBM watsonx Orchestrate and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore to deliver agentic AI capabilities that improve employee productivity and customer experience for enterprises. The integration brings into IBM watsonx Orchestrate both Amazon Bedrock models and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Memory and Observability modules. This gives clients the ability to build, test, deploy and manage agents that maintain conversational context across interactions.
An AI-first integrated development environment (IDE), IBM Bob, that offers advanced task generation capabilities for enterprise software development lifecycles, including software modernization. This is critical for enterprise resource planning (ERP) modernization initiatives, which are leaning more on AI to help users evaluate data for better results. It comes with built-in integration of either IBM Guardium AI Security or Palo Alto Networks Prisma AIRS for secure-by-design development. It also orchestrates between multiple LLMs including Anthropic Claude via Amazon Bedrock.
ContextForge, a Model Context Protocol (MCP) gateway and registry built by IBM that runs on AWS infrastructure. It is designed to help clients build, deploy, monitor, secure and validate AI agents across a business. Also, by bridging the gap between rapid development and enterprise-grade governance, ContextForge enables clients to discover, integrate and manage curated agentic resources.
A new agentic framework for application migration and modernization powered by IBM Consulting Advantage, their AI-driven delivery platform, to combine IBM assets and agentic automation with AWS native tools. These help clients accelerate time-to-value, reduce transformation risks and enhance cost-effectiveness for enterprise business applications.
FedRAMP authorization of 11 IBM software solutions marks a significant investment in the federal market, expanding secure access to IBM’s most advanced technologies. Also, by deploying these solutions on AWS GovCloud, IBM is choosing to meet federal hosting standards.
What This Means for ERP Insiders
The shift toward enterprise-grade orchestration will redefine ERP automation. The IBM–AWS expansion, by combining watsonx Orchestrate with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, the partnership strengthens context-aware agent development. This offers ERP vendors and integrators clearer pathways to embed scalable, governed, agentic AI-driven workflows. These workflows can help improve productivity and customer experience across complex environments.
The maturing AI-first development ecosystem is accelerating ERP modernization. These tools enhance secure-by-design software engineering, streamline multi-LLM orchestration, and provide structured governance for agentic resources. These help vendors and system integrators reduce the efforts needed to modernize their ERPs. It also strengthens compliance as well as delivering adaptive, data-driven ERP transformation programs.
Agentic migration is helping ERP transformation become safer and more compliant. By aligning automation-rich modernization capabilities with secure AWS GovCloud deployments, IBM and AWS create stronger foundations for public-sector and regulated-industry ERP initiatives. Benefits include faster time-to-value, improved cost control and higher confidence in mission-critical system evolution.
