Microsoft has appointed Theo Michalopoulos as general manager, financial services for the UK.

In this role, Michalopoulos will lead the financial services industry for the UK across banking, capital markets and insurance. Michalopoulos will join the Microsoft UK leadership team having previously led the Microsoft business in Greece, Cyprus and Malta and also served as regional business development manager for South-Eastern Europe. During his tenure, Michalopoulos worked with commercial and public sector customers to deliver transformation for the region and drove the skills of over 40,000 people through employability programs.

This news follows from Microsoft’s recent landmark offerings announced at Microsoft Build 2023 in Seattle, where the company unveiled its new range of over 50 new products and features to grow its AI plugin ecosystem across industries, including financial services, as well as extensions to Copilot with integrated apps and services and new Azure AI tooling for next-gen app deployment.

Speaking of his appointment, Michalopoulos said: “I am really excited to lead financial services in the UK.
