Vena Solutions announced it has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Managility Pty Ltd, operating as Acterys. The acquisition combines Vena’s Excel-native financial planning and analysis platform with Acterys’ Power BI write-back engine and Microsoft Fabric analytics capabilities.
The acquisition creates a Microsoft-native environment for “Orchestrated Planning,” which is an operating model harmonizing people, processes, technologies and data to align decisions and actions with strategic execution rather than simply connecting disparate plans.
For technology executives managing finance transformation initiatives, the combination addresses persistent challenges where strategic planning remains isolated from operational execution, with 50% of strategy execution efforts failing despite thoughtful preparation. Organizations struggle converting strategic intent into consistent execution as planning tools exist in parallel to day-to-day operations rather than embedded within them, creating fragmentation where accountability diffuses and value realization slows.
The combined platform positions Finance and IT as collaborative partners within a shared Microsoft environment, with Vena providing Excel-native FP&A capabilities powered by real-time data while Acterys delivers Power BI write-back and Fabric-based analytics connecting financial models to operational applications. Both platforms are available via Microsoft Marketplace, enabling faster procurement and Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment decrements.
Long-Term Goals Post-Acquisition
Vena previously launched six pre-configured data connectors through Microsoft Fabric, including the exclusive pre-built connector for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, positioning Vena as the only FP&A platform enabling organizations to connect Dynamics 365 F&O data through Microsoft’s recommended approach. Organizations such as the Kansas City Chiefs used Vena’s connector solutions to successfully migrate ERP systems, saving capital and time.
The Acterys acquisition extends Vena’s reach beyond financial planning into operational planning and application development, serving more than 300 global organizations requiring custom planning, analytics and data applications within Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. Organizations operating with regular execution rhythms including quarterly planning cycles, monthly review meetings and structured retrospectives maintain focus and momentum, with measurement becoming actionable and enabling real-time course adjustments rather than discovering gaps only after project completion.
What This Means for ERP Insiders
Orchestrated planning architecture eliminates strategic-operational fragmentation. Vena’s acquisition of Acterys addresses the 50% strategy execution failure rate caused by planning tools existing parallel to operations rather than integrated within them, combining Excel-native FP&A with Power BI write-back and Microsoft Fabric analytics to harmonize people, processes, technologies and data.
Microsoft Marketplace distribution and Azure Consumption Commitment models accelerate enterprise software procurement cycles. Both platforms’ availability through Microsoft Marketplace enables faster procurement with Azure decrements, while Vena’s exclusive pre-built Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O connector through Fabric represents the only FP&A solution leveraging Microsoft’s recommended approach.
Write-back capabilities transform analytics into operational decision engines. Acterys’ Power BI write-back engine serving 300+ organizations enables custom planning, analytics, and data applications within Microsoft’s analytics stack, extending beyond financial planning into operational planning and application development where quarterly cycles, monthly reviews, and structured retrospectives maintain momentum.
