Acumatica Cloud ERP has officially announced the general availability of its 2025 R2 update. This update marks a significant step forward in the company’s mission to deliver intelligent and adaptable solutions for mid-market businesses. The release, the second of Acumatica’s semi-annual updates, is packed with a redesigned user interface, powerful embedded AI tools, and deep industry-specific innovations.
“Every product release is important, but this one marks a leap forward in our mission to help businesses operate and grow with more confidence, adaptability, and intelligence than ever before,” said Ali Jani, Chief Product Officer at Acumatica during a roundtable ahead of the release.
Reimagining User Experience
According to Jani, Acumatica’s 2025 R2 balances the technological advancement in AI with the human element. After extensive customer collaboration, the new modern User Interface (UI) is now the default experience. It moves beyond a simple facelift, offering deep personalization that allows users to configure every screen from fields and tabs to entire layouts without creating IT bottlenecks.
This focus came directly from customer feedback. Jani shared a revealing anecdote during the roundtable: “When we spoke about AI with our customers, I had three customers that came back and said how about human first?”
Acumatica took that to heart. The new UI is designed to give users both flexibility and control, allowing them to revert changes easily if needed, ensuring that empowerment doesn’t lead to chaos.
Deep Dives for Key Industries
The 2025 R2 release also delivers tailored enhancements across:
- Construction: A new Project 360 Dashboard provides comprehensive, real-time project visibility, complemented by an AI-first document management system that uses metadata tagging instead of rigid folders.
- Distribution: Advanced Order Management featuring Order Fulfillment Orchestration automates warehouse selection to optimize for speed and cost. The AI-assisted system considers inventory, shipping costs, and even customer preferences to streamline fulfillment.
- Manufacturing: Significant performance improvements in Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) have reduced processing times from hours to minutes. Enhanced lot and serial traceability provide metadata tagging at the lot level for compliance and quality control.
Putting Automation in Users’ Hands
First unveiled at Acumatica’s Summit 2025 in January, AI Studio is now generally available, delivering on the promise to democratize AI within the ERP. Jani noted that the solution is a configurable toolkit that empowers business users and partners to create their own automations by describing the desired workflow in plain English.
This engine can automate complex tasks, such as summarizing support ticket histories or generating rich product descriptions. It combines an LLM automation engine with an anomaly detection engine, allowing it to not only execute tasks but also find insights and feed them into automated processes.
Jani concluded that with 2025 R2, Acumatica reinforces its vision of an ERP that people love to use—one that is not only intelligent but also intuitive, personalized, and fundamentally human-centric.
What This Means for ERP Insiders
The new release offers something for ERP users in Acumatica’s core markets:
- 2025 R2 changes how construction firms manage project documentation. The Project 360 Dashboard and enhanced project document management are designed for front-office and operations personnel. Instead of relying on folders, the system uses an AI-first approach based on metadata and tags. When a user uploads a file or media, the system can automatically tag it, use AI to write a detailed description, and make it fully searchable. This is a major efficiency gain for project managers as the ability to find any document, PDF, or media file associated with a project through an intelligent search saves time and reduces errors. It provides real-time visibility and control, enabling faster decision-making and smoother collaboration across every stage of a project.
- For distributors, the new order fulfillment orchestration addresses shipping challenges. This new capability automates the entire process of selecting the best warehouse for fulfillment. The AI-assisted engine considers multiple factors simultaneously and even specific customer preferences or sentiment about certain carriers. This automates a task that previously took dozens of hours, turning it into a nearly instantaneous process. Moreover, Acumatica has built in an optional human review step, acknowledging that many businesses aren’t ready to fully trust AI.
- Manufacturers focused on operational efficiency and quality control gain from the new release. The Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) engine has been optimized with AI, reducing processing time for complex plans. Additionally, a new lot and serial traceability feature allows for metadata to be tagged directly at the lot or individual serial number level. For quality and compliance managers, this granular data provides an audit trail to meet compliance requirements and reduces risk. Thus, in the event of a product recall, the company can instantly identify exactly which lots are affected, protecting customers and minimizing financial and reputational damage.
