Ernest & Young recently announced the appointment of Joe Depa as the new EY Global chief innovation officer, effective immediately.
EY said Depa’s appointment should help spearhead applied innovation to improve service delivery, while also helping guide EY teams when addressing and solving business challenges.
According to EY, Depa is joining EY at a pivotal moment, when emerging tech is helping reshape the industry while also creating a host of new challenges and opportunities. Depa will be leading EY’s global innovation strategy, helping oversee the implementation of emerging tech with business apps, both internally and with EY clients.
Depa’s background seemingly demonstrates a proclivity for artificial intelligence and the promotion of industry-changing technology. Depa has worked to help C-suite leaders and boards deliver innovative products and services, using his time as a senior managing director and global lead for data and AI at Accenture to improve user and client experiences, implement new products and services, and boost operation efficiency.
Most recently, Depa served as the inaugural chief data and AI officer at Emory University, where Depa helped promote AI literacy and launched a responsible AI governance program. Depa’s work with AI has been recognized by World Summit AI, labeling Depa as one of the “Top 50 Global Leaders” in the field.
On his new appointment as EY Global chief innovation officer, Depa said: “I’m truly excited to join an organization that is ‘all in’ on its commitment to the transformative potential of emerging technologies. I look forward to working with the EY teams and clients to help empower them to apply innovation in bold, new ways that help create value for clients through data, AI and emerging technologies to make the world a better place.”
This recent appointment comes at a time when EY has continued to make substantial investments in quantum computing and blockchain tech, and in AI, with the recently formed EY.ai Global AI Advisory Council.
