Two recent announcements show how NTT DATA has increased its focus on AI to enhance its capabilities in the manufacturing sector and for disaster response.
Smart AI Agent to raise productivity
NTT DATA estimates a revenue of $2 billion by 2027 from its recently launched Smart AI Agent tool to speed up the adoption of Generative AI (GenAI).
Smart AI Agent, which was launched internationally by NTT DATA on February 20, autonomously extracts, organizes, and executes tasks in response to user instructions, complementing existing workforces and streamlining time-consuming processes. It enables businesses to swiftly evaluate and deploy GenAI applications and optimizes workflows, while driving greater productivity.

NTT DATA has indicated that the Smart AI Agent is already enhancing data analysis efficiency in the automotive industry, improving regulatory reporting processes for the banking sector, and optimizing the marketing cycle for a major gas manufacturer.
“The launch of our Smart AI Agent is a direct response to the growing demand for tools that unlock the full potential of Generative AI,” said Yutaka Sasaki, President and CEO, NTT DATA. “At NTT DATA, we’re committed to pioneering innovation that drives enterprise success. Smart AI Agent is designed to ease operational burdens, drive adoption, and help businesses realize the true value of AI technology.”
Key features
The Smart AI Agent’s features at launch include:
- Task Planning: Dividing tasks into streamlined processes to automate complex workflows.
- Multi-Agent Collaboration: Improving efficiency and effectiveness by enabling multiple AI agents to work together on workflows.
- Advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG): Providing contextual searches of internal corporate data for higher quality results.
- Agent Ops: Optimizing operational processes by generating validation data from business documents.
By March 2025, the Smart AI Agent will also have user-in-the-loop (UITL) capabilities to continuously improve agent workflows based on user feedback. This will create a cycle of autonomous optimization.
Enhancing disaster response capabilities
In addition to the launch of the Smart AI Agent, NTT DATA has announced an enhanced partnership with Vantiq to integrate advanced AI capabilities into its disaster information coordination platform, D-Resilio.
The AI-powered integration, which will be effective from April, will improve real-time situational awareness and optimize emergency response strategies, helping communities take decisive action during disasters. By integrating VANTIQ’s real-time Generative AI (GenAI) platform, the system will now:
- Detect and process real-time environmental changes, continuously updating emergency timelines.
- Provide data-driven action recommendations, reducing reliance on manual decision-making.
- Optimize future response strategies using AI-powered learning from past disaster events.
D-Resilio was first launched in 2023 to support municipalities in streamlining disaster response efforts. NTT DATA has also introduced the concept of a ‘Digital Timeline,’ which leverages AI to transform disaster response plans from static, pre-written documents into dynamic, real-time action plans. This evolution enables emergency managers to not only monitor unfolding disaster events but also receive AI-driven recommendations on the best course of action based on the latest conditions.
What this means for ERP Insiders
Enterprises are lifting their AI-driven automation game. NTT DATA’s Smart AI Agent is expected to generate $2 billion in revenue by 2027, reflecting strong adoption of AI by organizations. For example, in the automotive industry, the Smart AI Agent is enhancing data analysis efficiency, allowing manufacturers to accelerate decision-making and streamline production processes.
Financial organizations are enhancing decision-making with AI. The banking sector is already using the Smart AI Agent to improve regulatory reporting processes, reducing compliance risks and increasing accuracy in financial audits. This indicates the increasing role of AI in audit-ready reporting, financial governance, and data quality assurance. Moreover, NTT DATA’s Smart AI Agent leverages Advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to provide contextual searches of internal corporate data, leading to more accurate and informed decision-making.
Disaster response is getting better with AI. NTT DATA’s D-Resilio disaster response platform, integrated with Vantiq’s real-time AI, improves emergency decision-making by detecting real-time environmental changes and providing data-driven action recommendations. Sharing a use case, the company has said that its AI-enhance Digital Timeline has broad applications including corporate business continuity planning (BCP) and other sectors requiring real-time crisis management. According to Vantiq’s CEO Marty Sprinzen, with Generative AI, Vantiq and NTT DATA are turning information into action, ensuring first responders can react decisively, not defensively when every second counts.
