Oracle transforms business logistics for RHI Magnesita

Oracle has announced that RHI Magnesita, the world’s leading supplier of refractory products, has selected Oracle Fusion Cloud Transportation Management to reduce costs, optimise service levels, and automate processes so that it can run its logistics operations even more efficiently.

With its headquarters in Vienna, its global supply chain organisation in Rotterdam, and 28 main production sites around the world that ship to customers in more than 100 countries, RHI Magnesita is a global force. Given its scale and expanding presence, the company needed to re-evaluate how it manages its logistics processes to increase the flexibility and efficiency of its operations, rapidly scale its services, and serve new market segments.

RHI Magnesita selected Oracle Transportation Management for its built-in flexibility and configurability to support complex processes for all transport modes. The platform will enable RHI Magnesita to automate business processes within its logistics network and optimise operations across multiple supply chain flows and operating markets, helping improve customer experiences and reduce freight and operational costs.

Following the implementation, RHI Magnesita’s shipping locations will run on one unified transport management system covering all aspects of its logistics processes.

Monic van Aarle, VP of applications benelux at Oracle, said: “Industrial suppliers like RHI Magnesita are having to rethink their operating models as they diversify their businesses, while faced with the challenges of an ever-uncertain operating environment and strained global supply chains. As a forward-thinker with a culture of innovation that has enabled it to lead its market for years, RHI Magnesita began this process well before the current crisis. With Oracle Transportation Management, it will have an integrated logistics management platform to help improve operating efficiency and support the company’s current and future needs.”

Simone Oremovic, executive vice president of people, projects and value chain at RHI Magnesita, added: “The global trade and logistics landscape has changed dramatically and continues to evolve. More than ever, we need to be resilient and operate with maximum flexibility to adapt our services, scale our business, and stay competitive. Oracle Transportation Management gives us the tools we need to automate our processes so that we can run our logistics more efficiently while reducing costs and maintaining end-to-end visibility of our operations, so that we can bring our customer experience to the next level.”
