Fairline Yachts, the British luxury motor yacht manufacturer, has selected Syspro cloud ERP and Syspro Torque, the vendor’s industrial AI platform, to support operations from design and engineering through to aftersales. Syspro announced the deal Oct. 8, and premium solutions partner HIT Technology will lead the implementation.
Founded in 1963 and acquired by Bronzewood Capital in 2025, Fairline is modernizing its wider IT infrastructure, with Syspro ERP at the core.
The deal follows Syspro’s Sept. 2 launch of Torque, which detects operational problems, recommends a next step, and takes approved actions in the systems manufacturers already run. ERP Today covered the launch.
How One System Links Engineering to the Shop Floor
Syspro says engineering change control, bills of materials, material requirements planning, shop-floor management, and quality management will work from the same data at Fairline. Design changes pass to purchasing and scheduling without rekeying, and quality checks are recorded at each stage so issues can be traced to their source.
Shared data helps in build-to-order manufacturing, where one engineering change can shift parts orders, schedules, and delivery dates at once. Adrian Smith, head of strategy, performance, and innovation at Fairline, said the company needed “an ERP platform with the depth to support every part of the organisation.”
What Torque Adds and How Its Controls Work
Torque runs on Syspro’s manufacturing knowledge graph, which the company says encodes nearly five decades of industry practice. It works with any ERP but runs deepest on Syspro’s, connects to MES, SCADA, and warehouse systems through Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors, and builds agents from plain-language descriptions.
Each action is logged with the rule applied, the data used, and the reasoning. Manufacturers decide how much to delegate, from approving every action to letting trusted workflows run unattended, and see a cost estimate before each workflow runs.
“Manufacturers won’t hand decisions to a black box, and they shouldn’t,” said Chris Lloyd, Syspro’s chief solutions and technology officer.
Fairline’s stated plans sit at the assistive end of that range: Smith said Torque will help staff create reports and interrogate data. Syspro’s AI product page lists Torque in controlled availability and says it requires the Syspro Web UI on Syspro 8 2026 R1, so Fairline’s integrated use is likely to follow the ERP rollout.
What This Means for ERP Insiders
Complete the ERP data foundation first. Torque’s value depends on engineering, purchasing, and quality data sitting in one model. Finishing change control and bill-of-materials integration before adding agents gives ERP teams outputs they can check against the system of record.
Start AI with reporting and data queries. These uses carry less risk than agents that change orders or schedules. ERP teams can test answer quality and usage costs before delegating actions.
Set approval levels for each workflow. Torque records the reasoning behind every action. Agreeing with operations, quality, and finance which actions need sign-off before go-live gives ERP teams an audit trail that fits existing controls.
