Key Takeaways

Oracle is integrating AT&T IoT connectivity and network APIs into its enterprise communications platform, enabling customers to manage IoT devices seamlessly on the AT&T network.

The partnership aims to simplify complex integrations and network contracts, providing a foundation for new industry applications across various sectors, including public safety and telehealth.

This collaboration leverages AT&T's extensive IoT infrastructure, including 5G technology, to enhance performance and reliability for businesses, promoting innovation and improved communication.

Oracle has announced that it is incorporating AT&T IoT connectivity and network APIs into its enterprise communications platform (ECP). It’s hoped the integration will enable Oracle’s industry cloud application customers to connect and manage their IoT devices all in one platform on the AT&T network.

The American multinational telecommunications firm, AT&T is known for providing services to a large portion of Fortune 1000 companies, and its IoT Networks utilize 5G wireless technologies to enhance communications, whether on land, overseas, or in the air. As of 2Q23, AT&T boasts approximately 117 million IoT-connected devices.

Built on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), the integration with AT&T IoT connectivity and network APIs is now available across OCI regions in the US.

With the support of AT&T, Oracle’s ECP will provide IoT connectivity, IoT edge application management, and near real-time communications to Oracle’s suite of industry cloud applications. The all-in-one offering hopes to remove the customer burden of managing complex integrations and network contracts.

Offering a foundation for new industry applications, from consumer to industrial business, the partnership looks to power critical new services and experiences with reliable connectivity. A few users of the service have been hinted at already, such as a turnkey, communications-enabled restaurant operation, an automated utility grid management operation, and providing enriched telehealth capabilities.

Additionally, America’s Public Safety Network, FirstNet®, Built with AT&T and ECP are providing the foundation for Oracle’s Public Safety suite, with the secure communications enabling critical dispatch command centers and near real-time camera feeds for first responders actively engaging in incidents.

Andrew Morawski, executive vice president and general manager, Oracle Communications, said: “Our mission has always been to help improve the way the world communicates, and with ECP supported by AT&T and FirstNet, we’re taking a massive step toward that vision. Together, we can help organizations across industries benefit from the full potential of 5G, by building a new generation of vertical applications offering endless opportunities to innovate.”

Sarita Rao, senior vice president, AT&T Partner Solutions, commented: “AT&T is committed to empowering our ecosystem partners to build solutions that integrate AT&T programmable connectivity, whether using our IoT APIs or our emerging network APIs. By teaming with Oracle to incorporate IoT connectivity and programmable APIs into Oracle industry applications, we are providing businesses and organizations a tighter level of integration between the network and application, driving performance and reliability gains while also eliminating integration requirements and separate contracting events. It’s co-creation at its best.”
