SAP unveiled powerful collaborative capabilities to its generative AI Copilot Joule during its annual TechEd 2024 event which kicked off in Walldorf, Germany on October 8.
The collaborative multi-agent AI system for Joule deploys specialized AI agents to tackle specific tasks and collaborate to meet shared objectives and accomplish complex tasks.
Apart from the updates for Joule, the company has also introduced the SAP Knowledge Graph and other new developer tools that will enhance Business AI.
The Knowledge Graph solution, which will become accessible through SAP Datasphere and Joule in Q1 2025, will seamlessly map relationships and context across SAP’s data landscape. It will offer ready-to-use relationships between business entities like purchase orders, invoices and customers. It grounds AI in SAP-specific semantics to build intelligent applications and leverage generative AI effectively.
For developers, SAP launched an improved Business AI model that includes new generative AI developer capabilities such as code explanation and documentation search in SAP Build. It has also added an Extensibility Wizard in SAP Build that will let developers access SAP Build directly from SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. The new development will also allow ABAP developers and fusion teams to get seamless access to ABAP Cloud development tools from SAP Build.
What it means for users and developers
The enhanced Joule capabilities will enhance an organization’s productivity by breaking down silos and freeing workers to focus on other important tasks as highlighted through two user cases during TechEd.
In the first case, autonomous AI agents were deployed to analyze and resolve dispute resolution scenarios which included missing and incorrect invoices, denied or duplicate payments, and unapplied credits. The second scenario highlighted the AI agents’ role in financial accounting, where autonomous AI agents streamlined key financial processes by automating bill payments, ledgerpdates, and invoice processing while addressing inconsistencies or errors in the processes.
The SAP Knowledge Graph gives users a deeper layer of business understanding and empowers organizations for better decision-making. The solution significantly reduces the complexities associated with manual data modeling and reduces the risk of inaccurate and irrelevant results so that organizations can build intelligent applications and leverage generative AI more effectively.
SAP’s updates to SAP Build allow developers to continue driving Business AI innovation and reduce development time for Java and JavaScript developers. It also simplifies the extension process for developers through the Extensibility Wizard.
